In Painting a Secret Agent, we document a session with the Emmy Award-winning makeup artist Charles Zambrano as he turns Bond Brown into the dashing secret agent.

Only a few minutes are spent photographing the finished art.  Bond's 4+hour session was mostly about applying and removing the paint.  Our cameras documented the entire process on a winter day in a cold and drafty studio space off the Bowery.  

Removing the paint is part of the session's ritual.  In Bond's case, a black tuxedo turned into 50 Shades of Gray, an apt metaphor for what turned out, unexpectedly, to be an exceptionally sensual session in a chilly studio.
